I was interested reading Doug Mccune’s post last month as I doing the same thing… Not joining the same company but I have recently made exactly the same move from freelance to full-time employee for Trigger Software based in Cheltenham.

I am employed as the Adobe Flex Team Leader and much like Doug I am building a team of “rockstar developers”.

What this means for you? Well this blog will become more focussed on Adobe Flex. Sorry Ruby on Rails and .Net guys! (though there may be the odd .Net / Flex article) and if you are a Flex Developer looking to join a talented team of Flex Developers then drop me a line, we have some very exciting large scale international flex projects in the pipeline.

It also means I am no longer available for independent freelance work, but please direct all Adobe Flex development enquires to Trigger

.

Moved to WordPress - Second migration in two months…

I have migrated my blog from Mephisto to Wordpress. Before I get flamed for this, please let me apologise for any broken links. Any articles written in Mephisto (after August 2007) should be fine as I have set WordPress up to use the same style Permalinks, however any written in my .Net blog engine previous to that will now get my error page. I have tried to make this page as helpful as possible by providing a search facility.

My reasoning in moving to WordPress is not a reflection on Mephisto as it is an excellent blogging platform, however more to do with ease of deployment and hosting a PHP based system over a Ruby  on Railsbased system.

Once again I apologise if you are unable to find the article you are looking for, you should be able to locate it through the search facility or using the Categories or tags (on the left).

Regards,

Jon

With my new focus on Rails, I have decided to move my blog to the excellent Mephisto Blog, from now on I will also be focusing my articles a little more towards not only Ruby on Rails but also Web Development, Web Design, UI Design and Javascript.

I have also used this opportunity to streamline the design of the site, there were a few things that didn’t work quite as they should on the old site and will have been improved along with a revamp of the colour scheme.

As I write this www.miletbaker.com still points to the old blog until all the content has been migrated and I have configured Apache to relay requests to my old urls to their new location. Once this is complete that will also be migrated across.

Also look out for the Jive (Javascript Input Validation Engine) for Prototype which I am currently working on with George which will feature real time inline validation as well as validation calls via Ajax and a Rails plug in. Check out Live Validation.

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my site and particularly my blog. I will shortly be posting articles related to Web Development & Design, along with reviews and opinons of technology and other things that interest me.

I will also try and provide tutorials for some of the emerging technologies I am working with, such as using the SubSonic Zero Access Data Access layer and my experiences in Flex 2.0 and Ruby on Rails.

Please feel free to comment on articles etc.
